Campus Weather Station

A rooftop weather station on Millwright Hall feeding a public live-data page used in several courses.

Home / Campus Weather Station

What it's used for

Environmental science and geography courses use the station's historical data for real coursework instead of a textbook dataset, and Facilities checks it before deciding whether the Millrace pond is safe for Winter Carnival's broomball tournament.

Public access

The live feed is published openly on the sustainability dashboard; no Porter login is required to view current conditions or download the historical record.

In and around Porter Falls

Porter Falls sits on the Porter River, and the university's sustainability commitments are mostly about water and heat: the Millrace restoration, rain gardens, and fourteen buildings surviving a Wesconsin winter as efficiently as possible.

The practical details

Location: Millwright Hall roof. Data: Temperature, wind, precipitation, updated every 5 minutes. Public access: Live data published on the sustainability dashboard. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.

If you have a question

The office behind this is Office of Sustainability (Founders Union, Room 015). Call (715) 555–0240 or email sustainability@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
