LEED-certified buildings

Which campus buildings carry a formal green-building certification, and what that actually means.

What LEED actually certifies

The rating covers energy performance, water use, material sourcing and indoor air quality against an independently verified standard — not just a plaque, but a design and construction process documented and checked by a third party.

Porter's standing policy

Every new building project since 2018 is designed to at least LEED Silver as a baseline requirement, not an aspiration decided project by project.

In and around Porter Falls

Porter Falls sits on the Porter River, and the university's sustainability commitments are mostly about water and heat: the Millrace restoration, rain gardens, and fourteen buildings surviving a Wesconsin winter as efficiently as possible.

The practical details

Certified buildings: Jarvis Technology Center and North Commons, LEED Gold. Standard: U.S. Green Building Council LEED rating system. Newer construction: Built to at least LEED Silver as a standing design requirement. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.

If you have a question

The office behind this is Office of Sustainability (Founders Union, Room 015). Call (715) 555–0240 or email sustainability@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
