Commerce Hall

Home of the College of Business — case rooms, a trading lab, and the Small Business Development Center.

Home / Buildings / Commerce Hall

What is here

Commerce Hall houses the College of Business: faculty offices, tiered case-method classrooms, team breakout rooms, a behavioral-research lab, and a financial trading room with live-data terminals used by finance and actuarial students. The ground floor holds the college's advising center and the regional Small Business Development Center, which offers free counseling to local entrepreneurs.

Student spaces

The second-floor commons, open to any student, has booth seating, whiteboards, and a coffee cart on weekday mornings. The trading room is open for drop-in practice outside class hours; the case rooms can be reserved for group work through the room-booking system.

Hours and access

The building is open 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays and shorter hours on weekends during the semester. After hours, the trading room and the second-floor commons stay open to students by Campus Card access.

Accessibility

The east entrance off the quad walkway is step-free with automatic doors; an elevator serves all four floors. The tiered case rooms have accessible seating at the front and back of each tier and a step-free instructor station.

History

Commerce Hall is the newest academic building on the main campus, opened in 2016 to consolidate a business program that had been spread across three older buildings. It is built to a high energy-efficiency standard and its rooftop array is one of the campus solar sites.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every building, room, hour and detail on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real campus.
