EV charging stations

Where the campus electric-vehicle chargers are, what they cost to use, and the time limits that keep them turning over.

Home / EV charging stations

How it's priced

The chargers bill the actual cost of the electricity per kilowatt-hour to the Porter Card — not free (which fills them with all-day parkers) and not a profit centre. A DC fast charger at the Depot garage covers a quick top-up; the rest are Level 2.

Keeping them free

A four-hour cap on the Level 2 stations during the day, enforced by an escalating fee for staying plugged in past a full charge, so a charger is a charging spot and not a reserved parking space.

In and around Porter Falls

Porter Falls sits on the Porter River, and the university's sustainability commitments are mostly about water and heat: the Millrace restoration, rain gardens, and fourteen buildings surviving a Wesconsin winter as efficiently as possible.

The practical details

Locations: The Depot District garage, the North Campus lot, and two surface lots. Cost: A per-kWh rate at cost, billed to the Porter Card. Limit: Four hours at a Level 2 station during business hours, then a move-along fee. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.

If you have a question

The office behind this is Office of Sustainability (Founders Union, Room 015). Call (715) 555–0240 or email sustainability@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
