Systems right now

Information Technology Services publishes this board for the systems students and staff use every day. Operational means the system works normally. Degraded means it works but slowly or only in some places. Outage means it is down. Maintenance means planned work is under way.

A significant incident gets a written review within ten business days, following the incident response plan for anything security-related. If an outage stops you from submitting work, take a screenshot of the error with the time showing and email the work to your instructor before the deadline. This is the standing advice in using the course platform well.

Getting help and staying informed

The help desk is on Level 1 of Halvorsen Library, at (715) 555–0146 and help@uwporterfalls.edu. Hours are Monday to Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. On weekends it answers by phone and email only, from noon to 6 p.m. If you need a guest network for a visitor, see guest Wi-Fi access. If you received a suspicious message, forward it as an attachment to phish@uwporterfalls.edu, then follow account and password security. Outages that affect the whole campus are also posted on campus status.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. MyPorter, PorterLearn, PorterPrint, these incidents and maintenance windows are invented. No real system is up, down or being patched because of this page, and the phishing campaign exists only here.
