Background
Grace Okafor is on the faculty of the Department of Construction Management and holds a master’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, along with professional licensure and industry certifications. Before Porter, Grace led safety programs for a heavy-civil firm.
Grace brings that practice into the classroom, teaching from real cases and current standards in estimating and cost control and construction safety.
Areas of expertise
- Estimating and cost control
- Construction safety
- Applied practice and industry partnerships
Teaching
Grace regularly teaches courses in Construction Management, Architectural Technology. Specific sections and syllabi are listed in the class schedule each term.
Class time is built around cases and real deliverables. Students work to professional standards, present to a critique or a client-style panel, and revise. Grace keeps the connection to current practice explicit.
Advising and office hours
Grace advises students in the Construction Management programs and holds weekly office hours during the fall and spring terms, posted on the office door and in the course pages. Prospective students are welcome to email to arrange a visit or a call.
Advising conversations usually cover course sequencing, whether to add a minor or a concentration, and how classroom work connects to internships, research, or graduate study. Students who are undecided are welcome; part of the job is helping them narrow things down.
Recent and representative work
Grace stays active in practice alongside teaching, through consulting, standards work, and applied projects in estimating and cost control and construction safety. Representative items:
- An applied project in estimating and cost control with an industry or community partner.
- A workshop or short course on construction safety for practitioners in the region.
- Service on a standards, licensing, or advisory body related to estimating and cost control.
Titles and venues here are illustrative. UW–Porter Falls is fictional; Grace has no real publication record.
Get in touch
The fastest way to reach Grace is email (gokafor@uwporterfalls.edu); messages during the fall and spring terms are usually answered within two business days. Prospective students and families can ask the Construction Management department office to set up a call, a class visit, or a meeting during an admitted-student day.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Grace Okafor is not a real person; this profile, the degree, the email address and the background are all invented.
