Pets versus service animals
A trained service animal performing a specific task for a disability is permitted anywhere on campus without prior registration, by law. A pet — including an emotional support animal outside of housing — is not, and requires prior approval from Accessibility Services for a residence hall exception.
Getting a housing exception approved
A student requesting an emotional support animal in housing works with Accessibility Services before move-in; approval includes expectations for the animal's behavior, vaccination records and a plan if it causes a problem for roommates or the building.
In and around Porter Falls
Day-to-day life at Porter runs between Founders Union, the residence halls on the south quad and North Campus across the Riverfront Trail. The Porter Loop shuttle and a compact footprint mean most students can get anywhere on campus in under fifteen minutes on foot.
