How the board works
This page is a snapshot of the student openings in PorterConnect, the student employment portal in MyPorter. The portal is the one place to apply; this page exists so you can see what is open without signing in. It is refreshed every Friday.
- Main hiring windows. Most departments post in three windows: July 1–August 15 for fall, November 1–December 15 for spring, and March 1–April 15 for summer. The openings below are mid-term vacancies and a few early spring postings.
- Work-study. “Yes (priority)” means award holders are interviewed first; “Yes” means the job can pay from a Federal Work-Study award but anyone can apply; “No” means department-funded and open to all.
- Apply by. The date the supervisor starts interviewing. Some postings stay open after it, but most fill from the first pool.
Current on-campus openings
Eight postings, 32 openings, as of October 9, 2026. Pay rates are the campus wage tiers.

Pay, hours, and the rules that apply to every job
- Wage tiers. Tier 1 (entry: dining, library, recreation, farm) $11.50 an hour; Tier 2 (skilled: help desk, makerspace, tours) $13.00; Tier 3 (specialized: writing consultants, student leads, research assistants) $15.50. Some jobs add a shift differential.
- Hour cap. 20 hours a week combined across all campus jobs while classes are in session, 40 over breaks. For F-1 students the 20 is a status rule, not a guideline; see on-campus work for international students.
- Advising guidance. First-years are encouraged to stay at 10 hours or fewer in their first semester.
- Getting paid. Biweekly, by direct deposit, for hours your supervisor approves; see timesheets and pay.
Part-time jobs in the Depot District
Downtown employers send their student-friendly openings to Career Services, and we list them here as received. They are not university jobs: the campus wage tiers and hour cap do not apply, the university has not vetted the employer, and you apply to the business directly. Off-campus work generally requires separate authorization for F-1 students. The Porter Loop runs to Depot Plaza every 12 minutes.
- Foundry Kitchen (Foundry Coworking building, Main Street): prep cook and dishwasher, 12–20 hours, $14.00 an hour, Thursday–Saturday evenings. Apply in person, 2–4 p.m.
- Depot Pizza (the old freight room): counter and delivery on foot and bike, evenings until midnight on weekends, $12.00 an hour plus tips.
- Riverbend Bistro (Main Street at the river): server assistant and host, 10–16 hours, $11.00 an hour plus tip share.
- Foundry Coworking: front-desk attendant, weekday mornings, 8–12 hours, $13.25 an hour.
- Porter County Co-op: grocery stock and cashier, 10–20 hours, $13.50 an hour, early-morning truck days.
- Depot Plaza farmers market: Saturday setup and vendor help through October 31, 7 a.m.–1 p.m., $15.00 an hour.

Before your first shift
Every new student employee completes an I-9 in person within three business days of starting, a W-4, and direct-deposit setup; starting a campus job lists the documents to bring. Your supervisor will walk you through department training. Read what supervisors expect once, and you will avoid most first-month misunderstandings. For a résumé line that counts, campus jobs as career development shows how to describe the work.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. This jobs board is invented: the openings, wages, supervisors, and Depot District employers are fictional, no one is hiring, and applications go nowhere.
