Why they exist
Transfer students land into a campus where friend groups already formed a year ago, frequently commute, and rarely live in the residence halls where a lot of the social connecting happens. A standing, no-pressure meetup is a place to know some faces.
What else the org does
A mentor match with a student who transferred in a year or two earlier, a private channel for “how does this actually work here” questions, and a voice on the committees that review transfer-credit and orientation policy.
In and around Porter Falls
Day-to-day life at Porter runs between Founders Union, the residence halls on the south quad and North Campus across the Riverfront Trail. The Porter Loop shuttle and a compact footprint mean most students can get anywhere on campus in under fifteen minutes on foot.
The practical details
When: Weekly the first month, then monthly. Where: The commuter and transfer lounge, Founders Union. Run by: The transfer student organization, with a staff advisor. Anything time-sensitive — an accommodation, a booking, a deadline — is worth confirming directly before you rely on it, because the specifics here can change from term to term.
If you have a question
The office behind this is Dean of Students Office (Founders Union, Room 200). Call (715) 555–0182 or email deanofstudents@uwporterfalls.edu during the fall and spring terms, or sign in to MyPorter to send a message or book a time. If it turns out another office owns the question, they will route it rather than send you back to the start.
Fictional information
UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every office, person, building, phone number and statistic on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real institution or a service you can actually contact.
