Welcome Center

The front door for prospective students and families — admissions, campus visits, and the tour start.

Home / Buildings / Welcome Center

What is here

The Welcome Center sits at the main University Drive entrance and is the first stop for anyone visiting UW–Porter Falls. It houses the Office of Admissions, the visit-scheduling desk, financial-aid counseling for prospective students, and a comfortable waiting lounge where tours begin on the hour.

Walk-ins are welcome, but a scheduled visit — booked through the admissions site — guarantees an information session, a student-led walking tour, and, on request, a meeting with an advisor in a specific program or a class visit.

Visiting

Weekday visits run a 45-minute information session followed by a 75-minute campus walk. Saturday visits during fall and spring add a shorter session and a smaller tour. Preview days, held several times a year, bring hundreds of prospective students for a half-day with program showcases and a resource fair.

Free visitor parking is in the lot directly behind the building; the code arrives with your visit confirmation. The building opens at 7:45 a.m. on weekdays.

Accessibility

The main entrance is step-free with automatic doors. Accessible parking is in the first row of the visitor lot. Tours have a step-free route, and the tour team can adjust pace, length, and stops on request — note anything you need when you register and again at check-in.

A note on the name

Longtime staff still call it the Admissions Building; it was renamed the Welcome Center after a 2019 renovation opened up the lobby and added the tour lounge and a small coffee bar. The old name is still on some campus signs.

If you already attend Porter

Current-student business — registration, records, the one-stop student-account desk — is in Founders Union, not here. The Welcome Center is specifically for people deciding whether to enroll.

Fictional information

UW–Porter Falls is a work of parody. Every building, room, hour and detail on this page is invented; nothing here describes a real campus.
